Choosing skates
What size should my skateboard be (complete or not)?
Skates for girls, boys, or aliens? Everyone rides equally here.
Here, size is key. When choosing your complete skateboard, what matters is the width in inches (yes, that stuff: 1″ = 2.54 cm). Skateboard measurements are taken from the top down, and the right size can make all the difference.
With the right measure, you'll have more control, learn faster, and rock it for much longer.
Don't know where to start? Your shoe size and height are surefire tips for choosing the best complete skateboard for you.

Complete boards for kids and beginners – what to consider?
Looking for a complete skateboard for kids? Don't let the size fool you.
When you buy a complete skateboard for kids , it's ideal to have a shorter and narrower deck. It's not for nothing: kids have shorter legs and less strength, so a well-fitting kids' skateboard helps them master the board without ending up face down.
At Maka, we have complete skateboards for kids that are not only cool, but also designed to help future pros get off to a good start, without any drama.
Find the best skateboard for kids here and let the adventure on wheels begin.
What are the best complete skateboards made of?
What's in a complete skateboard? We'll explain it to you, no fuss.
All complete skateboards are assembled more or less the same, but that doesn't mean they're all the same. Here's some flow-based info so you know what you're stepping on when you hop on one:
- Skateboard : It's that piece of wood you put your feet on. It has a nose and a tail; it's not just a random piece of wood.
- Skateboard trucks : Two metal blocks that allow you to turn and not go straight like an uncontrolled missile.
- Skateboard wheels : Made of polyurethane, you need four (yes, four). Without them, you don't have wheels.
- Bearings : Two per wheel. Without these, your skateboard won't move even downhill with a tailwind.
- Assembly kit : screws that hold the deck to the trucks. Without these, you have loose parts, not a skateboard.
- Skateboard griptape : This is what sticks to the top of your board. It's what gives you the grip to turn, brake, and do tricks without going flying like a sack of potatoes.
And be careful with the nose and the tail: the nose (front part) is usually a little longer than the tail (back part).
